Kamaʻole Beach Park III

Located along the sunny southwestern shore of Maui in the town of Kīhei, Kamaʻole Beach Park III—often called “Kam III” by locals—is one of the island’s most beloved family-friendly beaches. As the southernmost of the three Kamaʻole Beach Parks, it offers a perfect blend of soft golden sand, clear turquoise water, and well-maintained park facilities.

What sets Kamaʻole Beach Park III apart is its spacious grassy lawn shaded by ironwood and palm trees. This elevated park area overlooks the beach and provides picnic tables, barbecue grills, and ample room for gatherings, making it a popular spot for birthday parties, sunset dinners, and weekend outings. A children’s playground adds to its appeal for families, while lifeguards on duty offer an added sense of safety for swimmers and snorkelers.

The beach itself features gentle waves during calm conditions, especially in the mornings, making it suitable for swimming and beginner snorkeling. Rocky outcrops at either end of the beach create habitats for tropical fish, and lucky visitors may even spot Hawaiian green sea turtles near the shoreline. In the winter months, the surf can become larger, attracting experienced bodyboarders and surfers.

One of the most captivating aspects of Kamaʻole Beach Park III is its sunset views. Facing west across the Pacific Ocean, the beach provides a front-row seat to dramatic evening skies painted in hues of orange, pink, and purple. On clear days, the neighboring islands of Lānaʻi and Kahoʻolawe are visible on the horizon.

With convenient parking, restrooms, showers, and easy access from South Kihei Road, Kamaʻole Beach Park III combines natural beauty with comfort and accessibility, making it a must-visit destination for both visitors and residents of Maui.
